Penny Petridis
Director & Trainer
Penny has been paving her way through the building & construction industry. With 28 years building experience in Carpentry, Metal Fabrication, Horticulture and also completing her Building & Construction Cert 4 she is a leader in her knowledge and field.
Penny has also been running her own renovations & building business Female Tradie which recently celebrated its 10 year Anniversary. With Penny’s skills and attention to detail, Female Tradie is one of the most sought after contractors in Sydney.
Penny’s mission is to ENCOURAGE, TRAIN & SUPPORT women to follow their dreams. She understands how difficult it is to learn the tools and especially start a business in a male dominated industry. She’s passionate about making a difference and through her workshops & training she is determined to lead the way.
Scarlette Steven
Trainer
Scarlett has a background in fine arts. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (honours) majoring in sculpture in 2016, before going on to complete a Master of Fine Arts in 2019.
She has experience in fabrication across both wood and metal. She has worked as technical support in the wood and metal workshops at UNSW Art & Design. Here, she taught students who were getting on the tools for the first time, and helped them problem-solve their way through their projects.
Scarlett particularly enjoys working with beginners — watching newbies gain new skills, confidence and pride in their work is the best part!
Passion & Purpose
My passion is to share my experience and knowledge with as many people as possible. I want to help people build their confidence and change their lives.
Being handy is a LIFE skill – You will find these skill useful throughout your lifetime.
Being able to build and repair things is not only rewarding, it is also empowering knowing YOU CAN DO IT yourself. Seeing the confidence in people when they complete a workshop is what drives me to do what I do.
